Our new Spring Seasonal! Oat Straw, Red Clover, Holy Basil

Oat straw: When oats are harvested before the grain matures, the green grass and tops are called oat straw (Avena sativa).
Oat Straw helps to stimulate cell growth and helps build better bones. Oat Straw is rich in organic calcium which is non-toxic, unlike some synthetic forms of calcium. Organic calcium is assimilated by the body better and is significantly more effective than non-organic calcium.
It is also a nervine, which means that it is an herb especially good for soothing, calming, and nourishing the nervous system. That sounds like it might be good for anxiety and stress! I know I’m a little depleted by this long cold winter. Not to mention a little foggy in the head. Guess what? Oat straw is also known to boost cognitive function!
Yet an other intriguing benefit of Oat Straw is that it is also known to stimulate reproductive organs in men and women dramatically. Many libido boosting drugs have oat straw ingredients. Hello Spring FEVER!
Red Clover: Growing low to the ground with clover leaves and Magenta flowers with a faint sweet smell is Red Clover (Trifolium Pratense).
Red Clover is one of my favorite spring herbs. We use it every spring as it is so nourishing and proliferous. I will often pop a few flowers right into my water bottle so I can taste its faint sweet flavor all day.
Red clover is a source of many valuable nutrients including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C. Red clover is also considered to be one of the richest sources of isoflavones (water-soluble chemicals that act like estrogens and are found in many plants). It is a great herb for women because of this. It is used for hot flashes/flushes, PMS, lowering cholesterol, breast enhancement and breast health, improving urine production and improving circulation of the blood. It is also used to help prevent osteoporosis, reduce the possibility of blood clots and arterial plaques and limiting the development of benign prostate hyperplasia. It is also a great herb to help gently cleanse the blood. WOW!
Holy Basil: The Tulsi or the holy basil is an important symbol in the Hindu religious tradition and is worshiped in the morning and evening by Hindus at large. The holy basil is also a herbal remedy for a lot of common ailments.
Holy Basil Batman! Tulsi is known to help many common ailments. It is wonderful at expelling mucus from the body and helps with bronchitis and asthma. It is also known to help with coughs, colds, fever and sore throats. Sounds like it might be good for some seasonal allergy relief.
Tulsi is also known to help relieve stress, which if I’m not mistaken, our culture seems to have plenty of.
