Juniper Rose! Our seventh newest permanent flavor!
As you know we often choose our flavors based on Rishi teas. We were in an experimental phase, thinking up a new flavor to come out with this year. We were playing with some Wild Rose white tea for a bit. It was good, but it was lacking something. At the same time, we were also experimenting with the spent Juniper botanicals from Death's Door's Gin process. Johnny, the head distiller at Death's Door in Middleton was like, "HEY! Can you guys do anything with this stuff? We just compost it, but it still has a lot of flavor." We took it from the the burly handle-bar-mustache-guy, (Frankly, we were afraid he was going to start bench pressing us! ) and began experimenting. The juniper botanicals, which is juniper berries, coriander and fennel, were also good but lacking something.
We decided to combine the two. We knew we were onto something. It took a few more tries to find the perfect ratio of Juniper to wild rose blended with black tea. In the end, we got this mind blowing new flavor. It is very light and crisp. Not overwhelmingly flowery. Very nicely fragrant with a strong Juniper nose and crisp finish.
It is fresh and hits Madison shelves today and then the rest of our areas next week. We hope you fall head over heels for this one, as we have.
It's great with a splash of Death's Door Gin and a few basil leaves slapped between your hands or muddled served over ice!
